Children's pool safety

The pool in the yard can be a lot of fun and a great time for the family. But, it can also be very dangerous for children. If possible, don’t put a swimming pool in your yard until your kids are at least 5 years old. But if you already have a pool, or plan to have one, make sure you follow all the safety measures to keep everyone happy and safe.

Rule of Fist Most importantly, never leave your children alone in or near the pool, even for a moment. All it takes is a moment for a child to fall into the pool and possibly drown. So remember that if the phone rings or you must come home and always bring the baby or children with you! Babies are very fast, a lot can happen in 5 seconds.

You should always keep rescue equipment (such as a shepherd’s hook or life preserver) and a phone by the pool. These few items near the pool can save your child or anyone else for that matter. The hook will help you get to someone in the pool quickly. Use the phone for further assistance if needed.

You should consider putting up a fence to separate your house from the pool. Most toddlers who drown in swimming pools wander outside and fall into the pool without the parents ever knowing until it’s too late! Install a fence at least 3-4 feet high around all four sides of the pool. This fence will completely separate the pool from the house and backyard. Use self-closing and self-closing gates, with latches above your children’s reach. I know this may sound like a lot, but if you have very young children, it’s worth it.

Regardless of whether or not you have children, anyone around the pool should learn CPR and be able to rescue a child or person if needed. Keep an arm’s length away from your child at all times. Just in case something happens, you can react in seconds. Seconds will be the difference between life and death!

Do not leave old toys in the pool area. Remove all toys from the pool after use so that children are not tempted to reach them. This is important because kids will miss the toys there and go looking for them right in the pool.

And remember, only after the kids have finished swimming; Securing the pool so they can’t get back in. For more safety or product information visit [http://www.SafetyRus.com]
